Landscapes

I’ll never forget the first meaningful photo I’ve ever taken and that was my younger brother’s birth. I was only 9 at the time. My dad let me use his Nikon FE 35mm film camera. I only had one chance to get it right. I remember the pressure and excitement and the nervousness as I held that big heavy camera. To my surprise when we got the film developed the pictures were well framed and the timing was perfect. I actually got a shot of my brother in the air just before the doctor caught him. I was hooked and my love of imagery never stopped. I remember getting lost looking at powerful imagery, studying the scene, noticing the light, and how it made me feel. I would often get lost in the photograph. That was nearly 40 years ago that I captured my little brother’s birth, and I’m still shooting Nikon to this day.

That excitement hasn’t been lost! Often in new landscapes or capturing imagery, I feel the rush and thrill as a young boy having a new experience. While looking for fresh perspectives, I usually look for unusual conditions, ie stormy weather, fresh snow, astrological alignments etc. My favorite shoots are ones that I find inspiration & beauty in and it’s my goal to realize & capture that beauty thru my camera’s lens.
